As the Manisa Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD), our project Empowering Women in the Cases of Both Natural and Human-Made Disasters, in collaboration with our partners from Portugal, Italy, and Greece, aims to empower 3,750 young women by enhancing their awareness and preparedness for disaster risks. By equipping these women with the necessary knowledge and skills, we seek to increase their ability to respond effectively to disasters and reduce their vulnerabilities.
Through four transnational activities, the project will provide these women with essential training on disaster management and response. This will not only prepare them for potential disaster situations but also contribute to building resilient communities where women play a critical role in disaster risk reduction and recovery efforts.
Process Media – Following the Footsteps of Women Empowered in Disasters
Our Erasmus+ project titled “Empowering Women in the Cases of Both Natural and Human-Made Disasters” was not only an education or mobility process, but also a multicultural learning journey. During this journey, young women were empowered to take an active role in disaster preparedness, resilience during crises, and post-disaster recovery processes.
The “Process Media” video we share with you on this page brings together images from the four important mobilities of our project (Turkey – Manisa, Portugal – Chaves, Greece – Eani/Kozani, and Italy – Crotone). Each frame reflects the dedication of our participants, the moments of learning and producing together, intercultural solidarity, and strong messages about the role of women in disasters.
The video not only shows the trainings, but also workshops, field visits, cultural interactions, moments when the feeling of solidarity was strengthened, and how the voices of young women became stronger.
This video serves as a visual memory that tells the emotional aspects of the project, the collective effort behind the scenes, and how transformative solidarity can be.
We invite you to witness the traces of this meaningful journey.
